The accio spell is used to summon any object which a wizard needs over a long distance making it easier for wizards.(accio textbook) The word accio means to summon in latin. The opposite of this spell is the banishing spell which banishes the object the spell in casted upon.

The spell Accio is to summon an object towards you. for example when in a dual if you do "Expeliarmus" and you disarm your opponent you could then do the spell "Accio Wand" and the wand would come towards you and you would win. There is also other reasons you could use it for a book or for something else anything you would like to come to you.
